About This PIece
I chose to paint Muppet Palooza in the vibrant colors of autumn, a season I look forward to every year. There’s something captivating about that time of year—the leaves shift into warm shades of orange and gold, while the sky seems to deepen into a cooler, crisper blue. That contrast has always intrigued me.
In many ways, that same sense of contrast lives at the heart of the Muppets. They are bright, playful, and instantly appealing to children, yet their stories often resonate just as strongly with adults. Their world is filled with show business ambitions, complicated relationships, and the constant challenge of proving themselves in the face of criticism. It’s this balance—lighthearted on the surface, yet surprisingly grounded underneath—that has always made them so enduring.
Having grown up with The Muppet Show, which first aired nearly fifty years ago, I’ve always admired how that duality allows the characters to remain timeless. With Muppet Palooza, I wanted to celebrate that spirit—colorful, chaotic, heartfelt, and forever relevant.
